The Makeover Your Home Deserves This Monsoon

DIY | 13 August, 2021

After an exhausting and dreary summer, we all yearn for the monsoons. The wafting scent of wet mud, dewdrops on leaves, and the refreshing breeze—all of it provide some respite from the scorching heat of the sun. As nature undergoes a rejuvenation by sprouting new foliage, your home needs a makeover as well. Here’s how I give my home a revamp to welcome the monsoon.

I decided to paint my walls to create a radiant and pleasant ambience. For this, I used the paints from JSW, that are eco-friendly, family-friendly, and easy to use. Inspired by the rich heritage of India, they have a range of more than 1800 shades. Their ‘Any Colour One Price’ offer allows you to choose your favourite shade without paying extra. I chose Beige Hemp for the base and Scented Eucalyptus Green for the design.

How to paint your wall:

1. Prepare your wall for the painting: Sand your wall and wipe it with a dry piece of cloth to remove any traces of dirt and dust.

Here’s how I did it:

1. First, I painted the whole wall with the base colour. After the first coat, I let the wall dry for a few hours. Following this, I applied the second coat.

2. When the wall had completely dried, I drew a big circle in the middle of the wall with a pencil. Here’s an easy trick to draw a circle—tie the pencil to a thread (the length of the thread depends on the size of the circle). Keep the other end of the thread fixed on the wall and draw the circle.

3. Next, I painted the circle with Scented Eucalyptus Green with the help of a small roller. Make sure to do the edges with a small tip brush and let the paint dry completely.

4. And voila, the simple wall painting is complete. I also fixed two floating shelves on the wall and placed a few plants and some décor.
